day two in milwaukee! it's going to be a long one, folks.
10:45 am.
eric woke up feeling sore...he drunkenly learned the worm to carly rae jepson the night before. don't ask. it was great.
11:45 am.
nice view.
12:45 pm.
on our way to breakfast I spotted this old pink schwinn. I'm a sucker for creaky old schwinns in weird colors. I can't help it!
1:45 pm.
my breakfast was disappointing. I had a corn beef hash skillet but it came out before anyone elses, with big chunks of beef, no seasoning, and burned-to-a-crisp potatoes. then, my toast came awhile later and was cold. the only reason it was salvageable was because ross gave me half of his hash browns. thanks!
I think I was just extra salty because I love corn beef hash. oh well.
2:45 pm.
we went to Lakefront Brewery for a tour!
the tour is a great deal--$7 gets you a tour, a pint glass, and four 6 oz. samples. I liked the tour because you actually went down into the brewing area--the other tours I've been on have you behind glass and out of the way. it was a nice, fun, relaxed atmosphere. there were a couple poop jokes. if you're ever in milwaukee, hit this place up!
derek SPILLED.
(after this point, I stopped doing the hourly thing because I was taking a lot of photos and there's no point in splitting them all up into hours. I feel like I should feel bad for deviating from the project, but honestly--part of all this is about building a document of important time in my life and really living it. if I'm so involved in whatever I'm doing that I forget to take photos, then I consider that a success!)
these weren't all mine, but I did try all of them.
left: nitro coffee stout. I usually hate nitro beers (the creaminess of the head really bothers me), but this one was really good!
middle: a white beer. I also usually hate these--not crazy about citrusey or wheaty beers--but this one was great too! nice and light but not too light. I'm a fan.
right: fixed gear. it's an american red ale that I've had before (a couple bars in my town have it on tap). it's tasty!
the bottling area. I really wanted to get a closer look, but they were working and we can't get in the way of the people delivering us our tasty brews!
derek's always climbing something!
we went to the milwaukee museum of art!
along one wall was a big exhibition of work from high school students. a lot of the ceramic work was amazing--this one was made by a 12th grader!
the whole place had great floors.
eric at the end of a donald judd piece. love donald judd!
museum at the edge of a lake. gorgeous.
nice floors, nice stairs.
we have a hard time being "appropriate." who needs it?
after the museum, we went to a bike shop called Ben's Cycle/Milwaukee Bicycle Company. it was cool but I didn't take any photographs for some reason. we headed back to IL right after that and I slept the entire way home. then we ate a pizza, watched a dumb movie, went to bed, and I slept for like 13 hours.
alright. back to your regularly schedule hourly photographs tomorrow. have a good weekend, y'all.
